These tournaments are where the biggest winners at golf go to battle it out over four main major’s in the year, a win will keep you in professional golf for another five years which is great for the winner, the prize money helps too of course. Tiger Woods has managed to win 14 majors and he is only second to Jack Nicklaus who has won 18. here are the big golf events of the year! Get those golf batteries charged up and get ready to go!
Masters Tournament
this one is of course an invitational and is played at the Augusta club in Georgia USA. This course has hosted the master’s tournament since 1934 and has been voted the world’s number one golf course, something I am not too sure I agree on! each one of the holes here are named after plants and trees that can be found on the course itself, 18 is named Holly for an example. This is the only course in the 4 majors where fans can get really familiar with as it never changes. After the end of this you will need to charge those leisure batteries!
US Open Championship
this one is not always in the same place although it does stick to the USA, it is hosted by USGA. This one is actually held in June. The great thing about it is that it is held a different course each year which means fans can experience courses that they would perhaps not be allowed to get into otherwise. No marine batteries in site for this course!
Open Championship
this one is held in the UK and can be held at a number of key courses which is good. This year it was held in the amazing St Andrews course. This one is always played in July.
PGA Championship
The final major in the year is played in August and is once again played at several locations within the USA.
